Margaret Kaseje, PhD, is a policy and public health specialist with over 30 years of expertise in community health, health systems, health policy, research, programme planning, monitoring, and implementation.
Professor Kaseje has worked with various governments and international organizations, including WHO, the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, Norwegian Agency for Development, Food and Agricultural Organization, Kellogg Foundation, USAID, CDC, UNICEF, African and Medical Research Foundation, World Education Inc., and Aga Khan Foundation, among others. Her regional experience spans across Eastern and Southern Africa, including countries such as Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Ethiopia, Malawi, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Swaziland, Botswana, Lesotho, and Namibia.
She is the Professor and Director of Research and Programmes at the Tropical Institute of Community Health and Development (TICH) in Kisumu, Kenya. She serves as an Adjunct Professor for Health Policy and Planning, and International Health at the Universite Libre des Pays des Grands Lacs in Goma, DR Congo.
She has been involved in numerous research activities and projects as a principal investigator and co-investigator. These projects cover various topics, including adolescent sexual and reproductive health, critical thinking in health education, COVID-19 training for community health volunteers, and monitoring maternal and perinatal deaths in Kenya.
She is the Vice President of the Association of Schools of Public Health in Africa (ASPHA), a member of the International AIDS Society and the American Public Health Association and holds editorial board memberships for several journals.
