Professor Aasim Ahmad, Dean & Chief Nephrologist-The Kidney Centre Post Graduate Training Institute & Honorary Senior Lecturer (Bioethics) at the Aga Khan University and adjunct faculty at Centre of Biomedical Ethics and Culture at Sindh Institute of Urology and Transplantation (CBEC-SIUT) in Karachi Pakistan. He is a Nephrologist by profession. However, his passion for Bioethics led him to pursue a Masters degree in Bioethics from the University of Toronto; his major areas of interest are in research & disaster ethics and teaching and training. He teaches medical students, residents, and graduates at the Aga Khan University Karachi, Pakistan, and Diploma and Masters student in the CBEC-SIUT Diploma and Masters program in Karachi and KEMRI in Kenya Nairobi. He is the Chair of JSMU IRB, a member of Aga Khan and Ziauddin Universities ERCs, and a member of ERB of Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF). He is a member of the WHO COVID-19 Ethics & Governance Working Group and the nominated Chair of the Guideline Development Group for Contact Tracing at WHO. He is also a board member of the International Association of Bioethics.
