Dr. Aravind Chandru B is a dedicated public health researcher with a diverse academic background and a strong commitment to ethical research practices. After obtaining his postgraduate degree in Ayurvedic surgery, he pursued a Master's degree in Public Health from the prestigious Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences & Technology.
In addition to his academic achievements, he has completed specialized courses in "Public Health Ethics" and "Social Science and Public Health Research Ethics" from the Health, Ethics, and Law Institute in India. Currently pursuing a Master's in anthropology from Indira Gandhi National Open University, he demonstrates an ongoing pursuit of diverse knowledge. His academic journey reflects a keen interest in holistic healthcare and a drive to address health challenges beyond physical aspects.
Currently a Research Officer at the State Health Systems Resource Centre in Kerala, Dr. Chandru offers technical support for policy and strategy development to the Government of Kerala. He conducts research on health systems within the state, focusing on social determinants of tuberculosis, particularly substance use, and the health system's response. He also contributes to projects related to healthy ageing and health equity, including evaluating elderly healthcare programmes, fall risk assessment, fall prevention trials, and exploring ageing-related semantics.
Dr. Chandru is also involved with the "Age-Friendly Local Self-Governance Programme through Neighbourhood Groups" in Kerala, led by the NGO Health Action by People. He refines his critical thinking skills in health research ethics and envisions integrating perspectives such as human rights into future research, fostering inclusive and ethical projects.Â
