Dr. Kiwanuka is a health systems expert, strongly grounded in knowledge management and the use of evidence to inform policy following a long term collaboration with the Cochrane Centre (Effective Practices and Organization of Care Group, Oslo, Norway) and the Evidence for Policy and Practice Information and Coordinating Centre (EPPI-Centre) She synthesized policy relevant evidence for strengthening human resources for health particularly in Low and Middle Income Countries to identify effectively address health worker challenges in Low and Middle Income Countries. She has built a community of practice and of the capacity for knowledge translation across ten African countries under the knowledge Translation Network For Africa (KTNET Africa) She is also a highly experienced and widely published researcher with extensive experience working with policy makers and communities. Dr. Kiwanuka has conducted research assessing, synthesizing and sharing country lessons on COVID 19 response across 4 African Countries and priority setting globally. She is the immediate past chair person of the Makerere School of Public Health Research Ethics committee for the past 10 years.
