Dr. Teguh Haryo Sasongko is the Deputy Director (Commercialization and Support) at Institute for Research, Development, and Innovations (IRDI), International Medical University (IMU). He is an Associate Professor at IMU School of Medicine's Department of Physiology. He earned his medical degree from Universitas Gadjah Mada, Indonesia, in 2003 and completed his Ph.D. in Medical Sciences at Kobe University, Japan, in 2008 through a Japanese Government Monbukagakusho Scholarship. Notably, he is deeply involved in Cochrane, an influential global initiative in evidence synthesis in healthcare. Dr. Sasongko serves as an author, trainer, and reviewer, leading a project at Cochrane Malaysia to deliver evidence-based healthcare information to the public. Dr. Sasongko's expertise extends to medical and research ethics. He contributed to crafting ethical guidelines and consent templates for human genetic and genomic research at Universiti Sains Malaysia. His international exposure includes visiting positions in the US, Japan, and Indonesia, enriching his perspectives on medical ethics. Accolades include being a Mark S Ehrenreich Award finalist and receiving the Author of the Year Award 2021 from The Conversation Indonesia for explaining complex COVID-19 aspects to the public. He played a pivotal role in formulating Malaysia's 7th Research and Development Classification System as part of a Medical and Health Sciences expert working group.
