Director of the Program of bioethics at FLACSO (Latin American University of Social Sciences) President of the International Association of Bioethics (IAB) (2003-2005). She is Temporary Advisor of the World Health Organization (WHO). She advised the Scientific Advisory Committee (STAC) of TDR (Tropical Disease Research) at WHO 2013-2017. Since 2014 she is an External Member of the Scientific Committee of Brocher Foundation (Switzerland). She is PI (principal investigator) of a research training grant of the Fogarty International Center, NIH (National Institutes of Health- (US)) to train persons in ethics and research (2016-2021) and was Co PI with Ruth Macklin (2001-2016). She has published more than 80 articles in peered reviewed national and international journals. Author of several books, including Bioethics and Vulnerability: A Latin American View (RODOPY, Amsterdam, 2006).
