Mr. Emmanuel Alphayo Makundi is a Senior Research Scientist specialising in Medical Anthropology currently working at Health Systems and Policy Analysis Section at Muhimbili Research Centre of the National Institute for Medical Research (NIMR). Mr. Makundi holds a Masters-MPhil, Health Sciences, University of Bergen Norway. Mr Makundi has been engaged in teaching in higher learning institutions in Tanzania as instructor- Priority Setting Module. MSc: Health Policy and Management. Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences (MUHAS). Mr Makundi has extensive experience in publications and technical reports in health research over 24 years. He has initiated and engaged over 40 consultant activities, and has 29 publications in peer reviewed journals. With regard to participation in GFBR: Mr. Makundi present a case study for Tanzania on Ethical Issues in engaging marginalized and vulnerable groups in research agenda setting. In addition: I will share experience of health research agenda setting in Tanzania as I have been a focal person in this process for the past 20 years. Tanzania is in the process of initiating VI phase of health research priority setting 2026-2030, thus experience in participation will provide and strengthen capacity in the planned phase. In addition, Mr. Makundi has recently (2023) by engaged in developing Ethics Guideline for researchers when engaging Vulnerable Ethic Groups of Datooga, Maasai and Hardzabe in Tanzania.
