Kapiriri is a Professor of Global Health at McMaster University, Canada. Trained as a physician, Dr. Kapiriri worked at all levels (including managing a community based program) of the health sector in Uganda prior to completing her PhD. Her current research has primarily focused on health systems priority setting in low-income countries. Under this research program Kapiriri has explored health care priority setting and priority setting for health research and contributed to the development of the Child Health and Nutrition Research Initiative (CHNRI) framework- which has been used to guide health research priority setting in several contexts. Funding from CIHR supported a multi country evaluations of National health research prioritization processes in Uganda, Zambia and Tanzania. Based on which, a health research priority setting evaluation framework was validated, a guidance manual was developed and several peer reviewed papers were published.
